Advancing Micrometer-Scale Radiation Dosimetry with Raman Micro-Spectroscopy: Limitations and Potential Solutions

Raman spectroscopy (RS) assessment of radiochromic films (RCF) offers notable advantages over current techniques. It provides micrometer scale spatial resolution, and sensitivity to both low doses relevant for radiation protection (< 0.1 Gy) and high doses (> 2 Gy) related to radiation therapy (RT). We showcase a RS technique developed to investigate the RCF dose-response at micrometer resolution and discuss solutions to achieve reproducibility. Our work has the potential to improve high-resolution dosimetry for RT and radiation protection.
