Development of Methodologies for Conducting XAFS Studies on the Superconducting Undulator in the SKIF Project

review of various methodologies for conducting XAFS (X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) studies using an undulator as a radiation source has been conducted, highlighting the main advantages and disadvantages of these approaches. Among the advantages, the higher intensity of undulator radiation compared to other sources is particularly noteworthy, as it significantly improves the statistical quality of the measured XAFS spectrum and accelerates the overall process of XAFS spectroscopy. On the other hand, one of the main drawbacks of utilizing an undulator for XAFS lies in the necessity of continuous magnetic field adjustments within the undulator and its synchronization with the monochromator to produce a monochromatic beam with the desired energy for the sample. As a result of this work, the first version of a virtual model for conducting XAFS studies on the superconducting undulator 1–4 was developed. This model will be utilized to address challenges arising during the implementation of XAFS methodologies on beamline 1–4 at the Siberian Circular Photon Source facility.
