Counter Measure Against Attacks on LoRaWAN Based Devices in IOT Networks

LoRaWAN emerges as a pivotal low-power network technology within the Internet of Things (IoT) domain. Despite its attributes of long-range connectivity, energy efficiency, and modest data rates, LoRaWAN is plagued by vulnerabilities, notably in availability, authentication, and data integrity. Of particular concern is the Activation by Personalization (ABP) method, prone to replay attacks which poses a significant risk of selective denial-of-service (DoS) targeting end devices. In this paper, we address the security vulnerabilities inherent in LoRaWAN-based IoT networks, with a specific focus on enhancing the robustness of key management mechanisms within the ABP framework. By leveraging insights from cryptographic protocols, lightweight algorithms, and secure key exchange methodologies, we aim to develop novel strategies for bolstering the security posture of IoT deployments.
