Design, Development and Simulated Therapy Experiment of Dermatology Medical Robot System

This paper presents the design and development of an automated dermatology robotic system aimed at minimizing iatrogenic damage and healthcare costs while maximizing patient recovery in modern precision medicine. Traditional skin disease treatments relying on clinical visual examination and manual operations often lack the precision and cost-effectiveness required for contemporary clinical practice. To address this limitation, we developed a dermatology medical robotic system integrating a 6-degree-of-freedom (DOF) robotic arm, a dermatology diagnostic expert system, vision sensors, an image processing module, and two therapeutic devices: an automated liquid nitrogen cryogun and a laser device. A diagnostic expert system and a centralized control interface were implemented to orchestrate hardware operations. The system’s effectiveness was validated through simulated cryotherapy and laser treatment experiments on common skin diseases such as seborrheic keratosis, verruca plana, and verruca vulgaris.
