FPGA-Based Hardware Signature Authenticator with IC-Security for Securing Robot-to-Robot Communications

The development of advanced collaborative robots over the past few decades has heightened the need for faster, more secure, and more reliable methods of verifying data authenticity in robot-to-robot communication. Proper data authentication is paramount, especially when man-in-the-middle attacks can lead to dire consequences. This study proposes an FPGA-based Hardware Signature Authenticator system utilizing Maxim Integrated Deep Cover® IC to secure robot-to-robot communications. The results demonstrate the system’s exceptional performance, achieving signature creation for 100 MB of data in 1821 ms and authentication in just 1133 ms. This Hardware Signature Authenticator significantly outperforms conventional softwarebased solutions in terms of security and performance. Ensuring reliable and tamper-proof robot-to-robot communication.
