RFID-Enabled Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: Enhancing Infrastructure and Communication with OCPP

Heavily centered around the design and implementation of AC charging stations for charging fourwheeler EVs, this study is in tandem with the need for userfriendly and sustainable charging infrastructure, which is gaining significance as electric mobility is undergoing a paradigm shift in the automobile sector. The study attempts to provide a cost- and time effective reliable AC charging station that can cater to installation in various environments, such as institutional campuses, residential colonies, and public parking areas. The proposed charging station operates on general alternation current (AC) power, ensuring compatibility with already established power systems. Emphasis has been placed on ensuring the safety of users, stability of the system, and ease of operation. The facility to authenticate and authorize the user based on RFID has been included so that he may use the charging station in a secure and personalized manner. OCPP is proposed for remote communication between the charger and a central management system (CMS) so that session tracking can be conducted. The study further proposes setting up a charging station on the university campus to promote clean mobility among students and staff. The real-time deployment was an opportunity for the charging station to undergo practical testing and an avenue for accessibility and awareness of sustainable transportation solutions.
