Health Care for People with Disabilities in Rural Areas

Access to basic quality health care is one of our nation's most important domestic issues. The foremost origin of the issues regarding health care in rural areas includes the absence of access to primary health care facilities, poor sanitation, insufficient nutrition, ignorance of the significance of leading a healthy lifestyle, and the crucial reason is lack of education and insufficient income. Also, the non-availability of doctors in Community health centres causes untimely interaction between patients and doctors. The above-mentioned reasons lead to the following causes, namely, rising conflicts between families, a rise in the death ratio, and the common occurrence of infectious diseases such as dengue fever, tuberculosis and malaria, which are exceptionally high in rural areas. This also significantly leads to neglect of village people towards authorities due to aggression and panic. A fundamental human right central to health care systems' performance is primary health care (PHC) access. More significant barriers are experienced by persons with disabilities (PWDs). For disabled people, healthcare is out of reach who need it the most. India has worked a lot for PWDs in improving their healthcare conditions. The government has implemented many schemes, like Ayushman Bharat Yojna, ADIP and Nirmaya Health Insurance. The Indian Government has taken hold of several measures to battle malnutrition in rural areas. Integrated Child Development Services (ICDs) is one of these resources which provides nutrition support to children and pregnant women.
