Ensuring Data Integrity: Blockchain-Based Healthcare Applications in the Cloud

Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is an intelligent healthcare network that connects related electronic clinical gadgets, applications, and frameworks to the internet. Due to the limited processing capacity of IoT devices, cloud computing processes analyze and store IoT-generated data. Cloud systems allow patients and healthcare providers to easily access Electronic Health Records (EHRs) for mutual benefit. However, traditional cloud-based EHR systems are centralized, exposing them to privacy and security threats. These challenges have been addressed by Blockchain technology to become an acceptable methodology for secure management of healthcare data. Blockchain significantly increases trust, safety, and openness of medical data across healthcare center, diagnostic labs, pharmacies and physicians. Blockchain is a decentralized approach, unlike centralized systems, which increases system durability and thus the possibility of a single-point failure where non-permitted individuals are prevented from entering and modifying data. It facilitates detection and prevention of errors, fraud, and data manipulation in clinical trials by providing immutability and authentication. Moreover, blockchain boosts the data sharing process while ensuring privacy. It is a decentralized architecture that prevents hacking and ensures a safe, transparent, and efficient workflow for global healthcare activities. This technology capitalizes on the orienting data integrity and reliability rates at a medical institution to enhance the quality of analysis to be carried out on patient records. This study reviews capabilities, enablers, fitness workflow streams for blockchain in health care. Emphasizing the ways in which blockchain enhances data security and accountability, helps control risks, and contributes to interconnectivity compared to the traditional cloud systems. This can further drive the evolution of a more robust, effective and secure data sharing ecosystem in healthcare by integrating blockchain.
