A CDM Meta-Model for Cross-Disciplinary Data Management in Production Systems Engineering

The ongoing digitalization and increasing complexity of modern production systems necessitate innovative approaches for harmonizing heterogeneous data models. This paper introduces the conceptual foundations of a Common Data Model for Production Systems Engineering (CDM4PSE), which aims to enable flexible, scalable, and interoperable data management by combining a dedicated meta-model with a modular framework. A requirements analysis forms the basis of this approach. The meta-model serves as the foundation for the standardized representation of engineering data, while the framework establishes the conceptual structure for capturing, integrating, and managing these data without delving into detailed technical implementation. The proposed approach, validated within the DIAMOND project, contributes significantly to the standardization and unification of engineering data, thereby facilitating more effective interdisciplinary collaboration in production engineering.
