Architecture for Enterprise System of Systems – Healthcare EA Reference Model

The Internet of Things and AI has given rise to more system-of-systems, where systems interlink to deliver enhanced and emergent capabilities. This paper explores the concept of enterprise systems within the framework of SoS, forming enterprise system-of-systems (eSoS). It examines the integration challenges such systems face, and the role Enterprise Architecture (EA) plays in addressing these challenges. The paper argues that EA, with its holistic approach to aligning business strategies and IT, is crucial for seamless integration, especially as Singapore progresses towards a Smart Nation. Using the Singapore Healthcare System (SHS)/Singapore Health District as a case study, the paper illustrates the practical application of eSoS and the integrative power of EA. The study emphasizes the importance of EA in developing eSoS, ensuring integration, interoperability and enhanced outcomes.
