Building an Ai-Supported Public Discourse Model

The paper presents the result of an initial phase of the ongoing research that attempts to build a public discourse model with the help of AI and instrumentalizing Jurgen Habermas’ claims to validity. The primary goal of using AI in the presented model is to consider and implement new approaches to facilitate online discussion by giving discourse participants a tool that helps them stay active and more conciliatory than combative when interacting with one another online. The proposed AIenabled Discourse Intelligent Assistant tool would guide the discussants in the presentation of their political preferences with the aim to reducing the gap between such preferences and thus decreasing unnecessary polarization in opinion.
