Gaussian Pulse Generator Design Techniques for Ultrawideband Impulse Radar Systems

This paper reviews Gaussian pulse generator design techniques developed over the past two decades for ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radar system. The most popular methods for creating Gaussian pulses using discrete parts like step recovery diodes, avalanche transistors, tunnel diodes, and nonlinear transmission lines have been covered in this manuscript. A comparative analysis of these methods have also been presented to help designers understand the underlying principles and select the most suitable technique based on specific application requirements.
