Revolutionizing Ground Surveillance: Advances in Microwave Radar Technology With AI, MIMO, and Edge Computing

This article introduces a novel Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR) system that leverages microwave radar technology, AI-powered object classification, MIMO antenna design, and edge computing for real-time, autonomous threat detection. The system demonstrates capabilities such as digital beamforming, low power consumption (∼10mW), and all-weather, 24/7 operation. Key features include classification of humans, animals, and vehicles, with simultaneous tracking of up to 100 objects across a 2 km range. This radar addresses key gaps in current surveillance technologies by offering scalable, low-intercept solutions with high accuracy and low false-positive rates. This paper outlines system architecture, technical innovations, performance benchmarks, and deployment considerations.
