Single Input Dual Output DC-DC Converter for EV Applications

Electric vehicles consist of two power supplies main supply and auxiliary supply. The main supply is used to drive the motor in the vehicle and the auxiliary supply utilized to power the auxiliary equipments such as Infotainment systems, Power steering, Rain wipers, Lighting etc. To power all the auxiliary equipment in the system a compact DC-DC converter is required along with the auxiliary power supply. Usually multiple single input single output DC-DC converters are used for these purpose. But it requires more number of converters to power each components and require more space and heat dissipating systems. To overcome these difficulties multiport DC-DC converters are used. The use of such converters minimizes the size constraint and problems related with heating. Most of the existing single input dual output DC-DC converters have limitations on duty ratio, charging currents of the inductor, output voltages, and the issues related with cross regulation during load variations. A single input dual output DC-DC converter for auxiliary supply in EV circumvents all these limitations. The presented topology generates independent outputs without affecting the other loads during the operation and it was observed that crossregulation is effectively eliminated while controlling the loads. The converter is simple in construction without any duty ratio and inductor current charging constraints.
