Augmented Reality Companion for Interactive Science Laboratory Simulations

Augmented Reality Companion for Interactive Science Laboratory Simulations bridges a gap between the traditional learning method and modern way of interactive teaching so that the students can easily grasp the complex concepts in science by using the Unity tool. This work combines three phases of immersive learning experience for students through smartphone as one off-line app. Students can study the complex 3D objects of laboratory apparatus throughout the Learning Phase, engaging with objects such as the periodic table, optical instruments, and the human anatomical parts with labelled components. Through the Practical Experimental Phase, students can do virtual experiments in a fun and safe environment, including physics simulations and chemical interactions. In chemical industries the combination of reactions plays a vital role. Through this app users can virtually learn the resulting reactions by combining the molecules in real-world. The last phase, an AI-powered AR companion, acts as a virtual tutor, it helps students to understand the scientific topics and to respond to their queries and doubts. It accepts input and generates output in both text and voice formats. This is an offline application and it's a cost-effective alternative to VR headset for interactive learning. This AR application blends interactive exploration, inquiry-based learning, and practical experience, makes a full compatible package view of science for students to gain knowledge through interactivity and smart learning. By allowing the students to explore the software, 95% of them gives positive feedback. The students find easy and affordable to use this app through smartphones.
