Multi-Phase Interleaved Boost Converter with Active Filtering for Efficient EV Charging

The rapid growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market necessitates efficient, scalable, and cost-effective charging solutions. This paper introduces a Multi-Phase Interleaved Boost Converter (MPIBC) with active filtering, Dynamic Load Management (DLM), and IoT integration, specifically designed to address the challenges of high-power EV charging. The proposed system enhances energy efficiency by distributing the load across multiple phases, reducing thermal stress, and minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI). Active filtering mitigates harmonics and ripple currents, ensuring clean and stable power delivery to EV batteries. The implementation of DLM enables intelligent charging strategies based on parameters such as the battery State of Charge (SOC), optimizing energy distribution and minimizing stress on the grid. Additionally, the integration of an IoT module, such as ESP01, facilitates real-time monitoring and data transmission to an Android application, enabling users to track charging parameters and system performance remotely. Advanced digital control algorithms dynamically optimize switching patterns to adapt to fluctuating loads and battery conditions. Simulation and hardware models validate the converter’s ability to enhance power density, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, contributing to a sustainable EV charging infrastructure. This work aligns with global efforts toward eco-friendly and energy-efficient transportation systems.
