Adaptive Current Control Electric Fence System with YOLO-based Object Detection

The Smart Electric Fence project is an innovation in security systems, cleverly modulating the electric current depending on the animal detected, thus enhancing human and wildlife safety. This ML-based IoT solution learns to adapt to its environment, improving energy efficiency while enhancing safety protocols. This implementation marries YOLO-based real-time object recognition with Arduino-governed current modulation for enhanced control over levels of deterrence. Experimental findings show a 60% cut in wasteful power consumption, while the deterrence success rate remains high in various animal species. The system’s real-time response mechanism helps in quick adaptation, reducing the risk of detrimental shocks to wildlife. One unique aspect of the system is a mobile application, which immediately informs the farmer or property owner of approaching animals to the fence and enables them to take necessary action in time. These findings demonstrate a great relevance to agriculture, domestic security, and conservation of wildlife.
