Force Production in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

Force production capability is integrated in permanent magnet synchronous machine, utilizing a stator winding configuration. The proposed three phase permanent magnet synchronous machine features a design where the same winding conductors can carry both torque producing and force producing currents. By introducing a bridge supply midway of the parallel path in each phase, additional $p \pm 1$ pole pairs are produced in a p pole pair machine. This leads to the production of electromagnetic force within the air gap. The electromagnetic forces are influenced by the current conditions. The bridge voltage between the parallel paths of each phase results in electromagnetic force generation in the air gap. The force producing capability of the machine is evaluated using the coupled field finite element analysis.
