IoT-Driven Hanging Detection and Response

HangSafe Rescue is a cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) solution for the prevention of hanging through the detection of the unusual force applied to the ceiling fans. This project focuses on a very important safety issue in the residential and institutional settings where the risk of suicide or accidents involving hanging is a major problem. The system uses a force sensor that is attached to the ceiling fan to detect the abnormal load that may be caused by hanging attempts. The system notices the situation and activates the controller of an Arduino which in turn sends a notification to the caretaker through a GSM module. At the same time, a 12V DC electric door lock is disengaged, thus the room access is immediately available for the medical personnel to act timely. The abstract explains the main function, design, and possible effects of HangSafe Rescue in improving the safety measures of the places that are prone to accidents.
