Object Recognition for Automated Billing in Shopping Mart

The Automatic Billing system represents a next-generation software solution that leverages advanced deep learning and computer vision techniques to revolutionize the retail checkout experience. The Automated Billing System leverages deep learning and computer vision to revolutionize the retail checkout process. Unlike traditional barcode scanning, this system identifies products directly from images, enabling a seamless and fully automated invoicing process. Using state-of-the-art object detection models such as Faster R-CNN and Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD), the system accurately classifies items in real time, significantly reducing checkout times and minimizing manual intervention. Experimental evaluation on a dataset of 20,000 grocery images demonstrated that Faster R-CNN achieved 91.2% accuracy, while SSD reached 76.2% accuracy. Although SSD offers superior real-time processing speed, Faster R-CNN provides significantly higher accuracy, making it a more reliable solution for retail environments where precision is crucial. The system ensures robust item recognition, reducing billing errors and improving checkout efficiency. This technology enhances customer convenience, reduces operational inefficiencies, and sets a new benchmark for smart retail automation.
