Study of Dust Sensor Protection System for Solar PV System

There are high quantity of dust particles falling in Gulf region that exceed more than 220 tons per km area in 200 days annually [1]. In dusty storms of Saudi Arabia, the time interval consists of 45% normal days and 55% dusty days along one year especially in desert area [2]. The dusty particles on the surface of the SPV module (solar photovoltaic module) cause power losses of SPV module that could be exceed 30%. In these cases, the solution is use of cleanness of SPV module with water but this task is often expensive, especially in those areas with water shortage. The cleaning and resisting quicksand and store energy of SPV module frequently are essential to set power output. Currently work, some methods are used to protect SPV module like Nano coating system, intelligent clean system [3].The methodology of this research is develop of new technique to resist dusty storms that effect penetration rates on surface SPV module. The proposed study of dust sensor protection system (DSPS) can improve the efficiency of SPV module for long time. The DSPS consists of sensor device, automatic glass covering over the surface SPV module and then the frequency of dust sensor device will be switching to (on) along dusty days and (off) of normal days. Therefore, the DSPS is switching open and close to moving cover over SPV module surface and it can be simulated this process according mathematical matrix calculations. In analysis study of Gulf LAB in Saudi Arabia, the dusty days' period (tn) through interval days of n-days (dusty and normal days) is estimated with the penetration probability rate of dusty particles (P) and measured through 5 sec as maximum.
