Jamming Effectiveness Evaluation Based on Automatic Modulation Recognition in Cognitive Jamming Systems

This paper investigates the issue of jamming effectiveness evaluation in multi-antenna cognitive jamming systems. In the context of cognitive jamming, the evaluation of jamming effectiveness is crucial for achieving a cognitive closed-loop system. Consequently, cognitive jammers must evaluate the quality of various decisions based on communication parameters and behaviors, providing the foundation for optimal jamming strategies. However, in practical applications, the adversarial nature of environment often makes it challenging for cognitive jammers to evaluate the effectiveness of their jamming without direct information feedback from non-cooperative communication party. Therefore, this paper proposes an idea to analyze the communication system behavior changes based on automatic modulation recognition and infer the jamming effectiveness from the view of cognitive jammer, which can enable accurate jamming under the condition of unknown channel quality information. Firstly, the decision model of cognitive jammer and the adaptive modulation model of communication pair are analyzed. The feasibility of jamming effectiveness evaluation based on automatic modulation recognition analysis is proved, and the analytical expression of jamming effectiveness is derived. Then, an evaluation method based on statistical analysis of automatic modulation recognition is designed. In addition, the estimation accuracy of proposed scheme under incomplete information conditions is discussed and analyzed. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness and robustness of proposed scheme, and demonstrate its gain effect on cognitive jamming decision-making.
