A Conceptual Framework of Digital Twin for Smart Destination Management

Using digital twin paradigm this paper proposes a conceptual framework to support tourism destination management, a common topic for policy makers and practitioners in tourism. To accomplish this outstanding objective this paper maps relevant assets from the real world and creates a comprehensive virtual space of the target destination useful to reveal interactions and relationship among and between different destination infrastructure components. This paper introduces a conceptual framework based on digital twins dedicated to tourism destination management and figures out specific features relevant appropriate for this research context. The conceptual framework has been tested in the context of Bucharest, the capital city of Romania.
