In-flight Performance of the Magnetometry Investigation on the Psyche Mission

The Psyche spacecraft, launched in October 2023, carries a magnetometer with the purpose to detect and measure the remanent field of the Psyche asteroid. The Psyche Magnetometer has been operating since beginning of the mission and the data is continuously evaluated. In this paper, we present the outcome of this assessment to determine the instrument in-flight performance, the level of spacecraft generated magnetic fields and the influence on the requirements for the scientific investigation. The Magnetometer exhibits an extremely high offset thermal stability of better than 0.1 nT RMs over a thermal variation of 40°C.
