Plant Disease Detection using Raspberry Pi Pico

This paper provides a low-cost, portable plant disease detection system using the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller and color sensor (TCS3472). It identifies changes in leaf color, i.e., yellow or brown spots, to achieve the realization of potential diseases through RGB value detection and comparison with predetermined thresholds for healthy and diseased leaves. Results are displayed on an LCD screen in real- time, being a cost-effective and power-efficient option for farmers and gardeners. In the future, machine learning can be integrated to improve precision and wireless communication for monitoring remotely. The system can be scaled for big farms to cut down pesticide application and enable sustainable agriculture. It is aligned with precision agriculture trends, increasing productivity and quality for rural people. Future integration with IoT platforms could enable real-time data analytics for disease prediction.
