Dam Monitoring and Control System using IoT

Efficient water resource management has become increasingly critical in the face of climate variability and rising global demand. Dams play a vital role in water supply, flood control, and energy generation, with safety and operational reliability being top priorities. This project presents an advanced Dam Monitoring and Control System powered by Internet of Things (IoT) technology to improve real-time data acquisition and automated decision-making. The system incorporates sensors such as ultrasonic and flow sensors to monitor water levels and flow rates. These sensors relay data to an Arduino microcontroller, which manages three relays controlling pumps to maintain safe water levels. A built-in LCD provides local, real-time status updates to operators. For remote monitoring and alerting, the system supports connectivity via Wi-Fi or GSM modules, enabling timely responses and facilitating predictive maintenance through historical data analysis. This integrated approach enhances dam safety, boosts operational efficiency, and minimizes risk, demonstrating how IoT can transform traditional infrastructure into intelligent, responsive systems.
