Real-Time Wireless Emergency Communication for Hazardous Environments

In environments that are dangerous, safety needs continuous monitoring in real-time, and emergency communication. This work demonstrates a robust real-time environmental monitoring system based on the IoT with a suite of CO2, temperature, humidity, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), and particulate matter (PM) sensors. An ESP32 microcontroller processes data from the sensors, and a Ebyte E32-400M20S LoRa module is used to facilitate long distance communication. Risk situation is divided into 3 levels of risk (low, moderate, high and shown on Nextion 2.4" HMI touchscreen) to alert people who are in the risk area. Asides from real-time tracking, the system records timestamped sensor data locally, for offline access via Bluetooth for historical trend analysis and post-incident assessment. This hierarchical system reinforces proactive hazard identification as well as data-based decision support for environmental control. The incorporation of instantaneous alerting, historical record storage and long-range wireless communication, offers a full safety structure that covers the full range of industrial, urban and remote dangerous locations. The system provides a cost-efficient, scalable, and reliable solution and supports enhanced situational awareness and disaster readiness. With Real-time AQ visualization and risk based event-driven alerts, it improves early warnings and enables timely actions. Through integrating sensor-generated alerts with Bluetooth-enabled historical data retrieval, this proposed system represents a solid architecture for diagnosing and combating air-quality-related threats, advancing safety practices in hazardous environments.
