Smart Energy Meter with Theft Detection and Voice Alert

Energy theft is a serious issue in many states, with 20–30% of electricity lost due to theft and transmission problems. To tackle this, the proposed work has developed a smart energy meter with features to detect and prevent tampering. The meter first converts analog pulses into digital signals and displays energy usage on a seven-segment display. If someone tries to open the meter's terminal block, a voice alert says "this meter is tampered," and the power is cut off automatically until an authorized code is entered. It also keeps an eye on voltage and current levels using ADC and shows the values on an LCD. If there's any fault or power outage, the reason appears on the LCD, and an alarm sounds. This system helps protect appliances and ensures fair electricity usage, making it a practical solution to reduce theft and improve safety.
