Productivity Improvement by Using Assembly Line Balancing: A Case Study

One of the most popular manufacturing systems is assembly line production. Assembly line balancing is an issue that involves maximizing workload smoothness, minimizing cycle time, and minimizing the number of workstations. The optimization of relevance to work is employed to swiftly assemble large quantities of a consistent product. Assembly lines were first created to produce standardized goods in large quantities at a low cost. This was done to take advantage of the high labor specialization and related learning effects. On the other hand, assembly line balancing (ALB) allows for the application of modern production tactics like mass customization. It makes more effective flow-line systems that are available for low-volume assembly-to-order production. Traditional and still appealing methods of producing goods on a large scale are assembly lines. The methodologies that can be used to investigate assembly line balancing in the manufacturing industry are time study methods, line balancing methods, workstations, etc. For analyzing this method, minimize efficiency and waste reduction while improving productivity with a vision of improving growth and profitability. Implementation of assembly line balancing in home appliance manufacturing enterprises results in significant improvements in UPH from 357 to 360 no’s, cycle time from 9.9 sec to 9.6 sec, and also reductions in manpower through line balancing and outsourcing activity.
