Intelligent Smart Lighting Energy Efficiency System for Occupancy

This paper presents an intelligent, energy-efficient lighting system using the ESP8266 microcontroller. The system controls lighting based on ambient light and human presence, using an LDR for light intensity and a PIR sensor for motion detection. Real-time energy usage is tracked with an ACS712 current sensor. A 12V LED strip, connected via an L298 motor driver, is controlled using PWM signals to adjust brightness dynamically. In automatic mode, when light levels drop below 20% and motion is detected, the LED operates in low brightness (≈40mA). At night, motion triggers full brightness (≈100mA), which dims when no motion is sensed to conserve energy while maintaining safety. Real-time data such as light level, current, and mode status is displayed on a 16x2 I2C LCD and monitored via the Blynk IoT app. A manual mode via Blynk allows users to override automation. This system is ideal for smart homes and offices, offering up to 50% energy savings compared to static lighting, making it suitable for energy-conscious users.
