Automatic Bus Fare Collection System using RFID and Voice Commands along with Face Recognition and Cloud Tracking

This paper presents an innovative solution for automatic bus fare collection, integrating NFC RFID technology, face recognition, and cloud-based tracking. The system employs an Arduino Uno as the main controller and an ESP8266 module for cloud connectivity. Passengers use an RFID card, similar to a fastag, to tap and identify themselves at the start of their process. Upon tapping, the system retrieves a unique 12-digit card number and initiates a face recognition process using an AI model to verify the cardholder’s identity. If the face is authenticated, a servo motor opens the bus door for entry, and an audio announcement is played to inform passengers of their current location. At the end of the process, passengers tap their card again to automatically calculate the fare based on the travel distance. The fare is deducted, and the bus door opens for the passenger to exit. All transaction details, including fare amounts, are updated in real- time to the cloud, providing users with an accessible interface to track their fare history. This system streamlines fare collection, enhances security with face recognition, and offers a seamless, user-friendly experience, making public transport more efficient and accessible.
