ANN Analysis for Performance Parameters of a Diesel Engine Fuelled with Blends of Neem and Karanja Biodiesel

An experimental investigation was carried out to measure the different performance properties of a diesel engine running at a constant speed on various blends and pure diesel fuel. Vegetable triglycerides are converted into biodiesels by a process known as transesterification. This experimental investigation uses biodiesel derived from vegetable oils, specifically Neem and Karanja. An investigation into how the engine’s performance varies depending on the blend of Neem and Karanja biodiesel it is powered with has been conducted. The results indicate that the blends’ performance parameters are similar to those of pure diesel. Additionally, adding greater amounts of Karanja oil—as compared to Neem oil—to the diesel blends yields improved performance indicators. According to the data, mix K20N0D80 performs better than all other blends in diesel engines, nearly matching diesel alone in several parameters. It’s crucial to remember that certain mixes behave almost precisely like diesel alone. It suggests that some biodiesel blends can serve as practical alternatives without compromising engine performance, which is essential for the shift to renewable energy sources. In this attempt, a model is predicted using artificial neural networks (ANNs), and the performance of a diesel engine fed with different ratios of conventional fuel and a mixture of Neem and Karanja biodiesel is assessed.
