Design and Implementation of a Radar Based Integrated Sensing and Communication System

With the increasing proliferation of radar systems in civilian applications and the growing congestion of the frequency spectrum due to the coexistence of radar and communication systems, the demand for efficient spectrum utilization has become critical. This paper proposes the design and implementation of an Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) system capable of simultaneous environmental sensing and data transmission using radar signals and noncoherent frequency modulation within a shared frequency band. The proposed architecture ensures that the performance of the radar subsystem remains uncompromised. Extensive testing in diverse environments and subsequent analysis of the results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively fulfills the stated requirements, enabling simultaneous information transmission and environmental sensing with high rate and accuracy.
