A Wireless-Powered Endovascular Stent System for Neuromodulation: A Simulation-Based Feasibility Study

Neurological disorders present a growing global health challenge, contributing to an increasing disease burden. While invasive treatments, such as deep brain stimulation, offer therapeutic benefits, they require surgical implantation, posing risks such as infection, bleeding, and the need for ongoing maintenance. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes a novel wirelessly powered endovascular stent system designed to enable continuous electrical stimulation. By leveraging wireless power transmission technology, the stent receives energy from external electromagnetic sources, eliminating the need for implanted batteries. Simulation experiments revealed that both external and stent coils play a crucial role in shaping the electric field distribution within the head and influencing the energy transfer efficiency. Our proposed interventional system demonstrated the feasibility of wireless power transmission via intermediate fields, enabling induced electrical stimulation. These findings provide a foundation for further optimization and development of efficient and interventional neuromodulation therapies.
