Different Stator-Rotor Configurations Analysis of Single Phase Outer Rotor Field Excited Flux Switching Machines

Field-excited flux-switching machines (FEFSMs) have gained significant attention among researchers in recent years due to their lower cost and greater controllability compared to permanent magnet machines. Single-phase FEFSMs are commonly used in various industrial applications; however, the inner rotor design of these machines imposes certain limitations. To overcome these challenges, single-phase outer rotor FEFSMs have recently been introduced. This paper presents a detailed analysis of single-phase outer rotor FEFSMs (OR-FEFSMs) with 8-slot/10-pole, 12-slot/9-pole, and 12-slot/13-pole configurations. The performance of these machines is evaluated in terms of flux linkage, torque, instantaneous torque, cogging torque, and back electromotive force (EMF).
