Correlation Analysis of Meteorological Warning Signals and Wind Turbine Operating Failures

Meteorological disasters have a significant impact on the safe operation of wind farms. This study utilizes failure data from 103 wind turbines at a Ningbo wind farm from 2017 to 2021 to analyze the relationship between meteorological warning signals and turbine failures. Approximately $35-45 \%$ of turbine failures are attributed to hazardous weather conditions indicated by warning signals. An analysis of warning types reveals that the primary weather phenomena causing turbine failures are strong winds, lightning, and low temperatures. Meteorological warning signals effectively indicate these weather conditions, although the accuracy of lightning warnings is relatively low, with a substantial number of missed alarms. This limitation fails to fully meet the safety requirements of wind farm operations.
