Design and Development of Solar-Based Cold Storage and Dryer System for Agri – Products

This paper presents cold storage and dryer system designed for agricultural purposes with a solar power system with smart temperature maintenance system. The system stands to uses solar energy from photovoltaic panels as its primary source and is composed of elements such as solar panels, batteries, a Peltier module, and a boost converter to manage voltage and perform better. The refrigeration section is meant for cooling and preserving perishable, while the dryer section facilitates drying of some of the goods that need low temperature. Polyurethane foam and extruded polystyrene serve as effective insulating materials as they prevent heat loss, while a fan exhaust, in constructed space, regulates humidity. This system addresses the energy challenges in remote villages and improves the post-harvest preservation, ensuring the minimal depreciation and maintaining product quality with efficient energy utilization and cost-effective storage solutions with smart temperature maintenance system. The system is modeled using MATLAB software to analyze energy consumption and temperature regulation in the designed system. The simulations of MATLAB serve to analyze the energy consumption factors of efficient operation and for sustaining the temperature.
