Development of a Multi-Level Inverter with Fuzzy Logic Control for Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems

Multilevel inverters play a significant role in modern high- and medium-power applications. This paper presents a grid-connected PV system that employs a multilevel inverter design, which is examined through mathematical models. To enhance efficiency, a de-to-dc boost converter with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is incorporated. Industrial loads powered by electronic converters often produce distorted voltage and current waveforms due to non-sinusoidal and non-periodic currents, leading to increased power losses. To address this issue, a novel 51-level inverter is proposed, enhancing active and reactive power management during system transients. The paper also compares conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) Controllers that use fuzzy logic to manage power, helping maintain system stability and enhance the flow of real power.
