An Industrial Translation Tool from Structured Text to C Source Code for Software Services

The Industrial Internet, driven by the integration of machines, sensors, and software systems, relies heavily on software services to facilitate real-time data exchange, analysis, and decision-making within industrial environments. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) serve as the backbone of industrial automation systems, orchestrating various manufacturing processes and machinery. Within this framework, the utilization of Structured Text (ST) emerges as a crucial language for enabling efficient software services. However, the translation of ST into C, a prevalent language across industries for control system implementation, presents challenges due to syntax and programming paradigm disparities. To address the above challenges, in this paper, we propose a tailored translation tool that automates the conversion of ST code into C, enhancing the interoperability of software services within industrial automation. Additionally, we delve into an in-depth analysis of the features and capabilities of ST, highlighting its significance in advancing software services for industrial applications. Through evaluation and case studies, we validate the effectiveness of our translation tool, showcasing its practical applicability and the tangible benefits it brings to industrial software services.
