Preventive and Condition Assessment of Transmission Underground Cable Systems

Transmission underground cables form the backbone of our power grid, and any failure can easily lead to outages and substantial economic losses. Given the intricate installation of cable accessories—such as joints—and their frequent malfunctions, this study surveys and integrates major literatures then proposes a dynamic evaluation formula that combines the health index, operating factor, and reliability index. The formula ensures that the absence of certain detection items does not invalidate the computation. Additionally, by applying the reliability product method, more critical test results exert greater influence on the final score.
