Use Of Satty’s Multicriteria Method for Selecting the Communication Channel Between Air Defence Elements

The topic of this paper is a proposed solution to the problem of selecting the optimal communication channel between nodes of the Army’s Automated Air Defence Command and Control System (AADC2S) using a multi-criteria decision-making method known as the Satty’s method. Efficient and reliable communication is key to ensuring coordination and synchronization of the various air defence elements, which includes ensuring reliability of data transmission, speed of communication and resilience to external influences such as jamming or attacks. The use of a multi-criteria decision-making method, specifically the Satty’s method, allows for the evaluation and comparison of different communication channel options based on several important criteria. These criteria include reliability, security aspects and jamming resistance, which in the context of military communications are essential to ensure effective and secure information exchange between nodes. The Satty’s decision analysis method was applied in this research to systematically compare the different options and select the most appropriate channel according to the specific requirements of a given tactical situation. The results of the analysis show that Satty’s method offers a robust and objective approach to communication channel selection, thus contributing to the optimization of technology selection in conditions where several interacting factors must be considered. The selection of the right communication channel ensures not only higher efficiency in exchange of information, but also the resilience of the entire system to external threats, which is essential for military operations in the field of air defence. This work brings new insights into the application of multi-criteria analysis in the context of military communication and offers a tool for effective decision support in the selection of communication channels in dynamic, highly demanding conditions. The results show that methods such as Satty’s analysis can yield significant improvements in the quality of decision making, which has a direct impact on the success and safety of military operations.
