Climatological Parameters for Military Training Areas under Climate Change Conditions

The aim of the paper is to analyse, evaluate, and visualise suitable climatological parameters for the territories of military training areas in Czechia, Central Europe. The datasets cover not only the current climate represented by the normal period of 1991-2020 but also future development demonstrated by the model data of the two twentyyear periods of 2041-2060 and of 2081-2100. According to model predictions, temperature increases are expected in all territories in the future, with the most significant changes expected in those ones located in the eastern part of Czechia. The spatiotemporal variability of precipitation is not so clearcut, and a different development is expected for each area. At the end of the paper, risk phenomena related to the future development of climatological parameters that may affect military activities are defined and assessed. The most significant risk phenomenon was identified as the heat risk, which could occur more frequently in future periods. The findings of this paper underscore the importance of factoring in climatological conditions during planning. This approach will enable military units to better adapt to future climatic changes and mitigate potential adverse effects on their operations and activities in various regions.
