Multi Purpose Application of 2SFCA Methodology for Resource Distribution Analysis and Identification of Risks Along the Frontline

In this paper, a fully proportional 2SFCA model is introduced to be used by military to analyse location distribution of field hospitals and supply depots along a frontline. The accessibility to resources for military units is theoretically derived based on 2SFCA methodology.Fully proportional 2SFCA model strongly imitates human decision making processes, and has therefore a potential to better describe human behavior. In the process, geographical catchments are described completely based on the economic principle of competition which results in an innovative friction of distance function. This function simply judges destinations against the closest destination relatively to each other.It might be intuitive to assume, that a location close to the destination has a high accessibility. However, this might not be always true. A patient living right next to a hospital might find it illogical to travel to any other hospital. And that might be true even when he knows that the hospital is overcrowded and attracts patients from a wide area. On the other hand, a patient that lives further away from said hospital might choose another one that he knows is visited by fewer patients. In the end, this might result in a higher accessibility for patients that live further away from hospitals.Similar behaviour is exhibited by the fully proportional 2SFCA where catchments derived on competition can result in a lower accessibility for locations that are close to a destination.Provided analysis outlines a potential applications in both military and civilian sector.
