The Duality Metrification in Defense Products: a Proposal Using Fuzzy Inference System.

This paper brings a proposal for turning the abstract concept of dualism in defense products into a measurable issue. The objective was to analyze the feasibility of technological dualism metrication by using a Fuzzy Inference System. For this purpose, a Duality Calculator was developed in Python under the Fuzzy Logic theory and Design Science Research (DSR) method. The artefact was tested simulating the dualism calculation of two Brazilian Army’s defense items, as it follows: 1-‘Engine of the Medium Wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier Vehicle (VBTP-MR) Guarani obtained from most samples a duality of 45.82%; and 2-‘Bodyshell of the Leopard 1A5BR Armored Combat Vehicle (VBC-CC) got 32.41%. In conclusion, this study certified the viability of duality metrification using a Fuzzy Logic model, as the results presented by the artefact were coherent with the defense items tested. Hence, the applicability can be extended to other defense products for duality calculations.
