Asymmetric Mover Design for Mitigating Detent Force and Thrust Ripple of Spoke-Type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Machine

This paper proposes an asymmetric mover structure designed to reduce detent force and thrust ripple in spoke-type permanent magnet linear synchronous machines (PMLSMs). The proposed structure features an asymmetric arrangement of magnets on a skewed mover. The performance of the proposed spoke-type PMLSM was verified using a 3D finite element method. The optimized model represents notable improvements, confirming the effectiveness of combining asymmetric and skewed designs in mitigating detent force and thrust ripple.
