Study on Multi-Bus Feeding Conversion System for Data Centers

In the context of the industry trends such as highdensity server deployment and cloud-based configuration of communication devices, data center construction is facing practical challenges including tight physical space, urgent requirements for optimizing Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), and a sharp increase in equipment maintenance workload. This paper first conducts a comparative analysis of multiple data center power supply system architectures, points out the comprehensive advantages of the Panama power system in terms of compactness, efficiency, and reliability, and based on this, proposes an innovative multi-bus power supply system. Secondly, through architecture deduction, the technical advantages of the conversion from a single bus to multiple buses are revealed. Combined with theoretical analysis, the quantitative relationship between the number of secondary windings of the phase-shifting transformer and the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the primary current is derived, and then the optimal number of windings is determined. Simulation experiments are carried out to initially verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of power conversion at all levels of the system. Finally, a complete power supply system prototype from the phase-shifting transformer to the IT cabinet is built in a laboratory environment, and the technical feasibility of the proposed multi-bus power supply system is verified through measured data.
