Using a New Fuzzy Logic-Based Image Steganography Method to Improve Medical Data Security

The goal of this research is to use steganographic techniques to combine medical data into a single file format in order to protect it. Sensitive information about the patient, including genetic information, insurance, test results, drugs, sexual orientation, medical history, and biometric data Magnetic resonance (MR) photographs are also employed as the cover image, and contact, billing, and other details are chosen as the hidden data. The EEG is included in the message together with the patient's details in the picture file header and the physician's notes. The non-sequential least significant bits (LSB) of picture pixels are chosen using three image steganography techniques: fuzzy logic-based LSB, similarity-based LSB, and DWT-Based Steganography. fuzzy logic based LSB uses smart decision-making (fuzzy logic) to hide data in the best parts of an image, keeping it hidden and clear. Similarity-Based LSB hides data in similar-looking pixels to keep the image unchanged, but it's less secure. DWT-Based Steganography hides data in the less noticeable parts of an image using wavelet transformation, making it harder to detect. The message is concealed by using the similarity values of the grey levels in the pixels. Peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity measure (SSIM), and mean square error (MSE) are used to evaluate Stego's performance and determine the quality of its images. This tests outcomes demonstrate that the suggested fuzzy logic-based steganography approach outperforms conventional steganography methods. The original image and the stego-images (images with hidden data) had nearly the same appearance. The PSNR values exceeded the 40–45 dB in fuzzy logic-based approach and the PSNR 30-35 dB in similarity-based LSB, and the DWT-Based Steganography PSNR 35-38 dB indicating that the hidden data had no effect on image quality. Security was improved by the fuzzy logic adaption, which made it harder for attackers to find patterns. Low security for data hiding is one of the disadvantages of the outdated methods. Compared to conventional techniques, the technology permits a greater capacity for data concealing.
