Solar powered bicycle

This paper envisages the design of a solar powered bicycle. Here the automatic bicycle is powered with photovoltaic energy. The software for the system is written using state machines. The collected photovoltaic energy is used to charge a battery pack. The different parts of the bicycle are controlled by different pieces of software.A photovolaic energy state machine ensures that the battery pack is fully charged, thanks to the effective capture of solar energy. The acceleration state machine controls the propulsion of the bicycle. The user input and external conditions govern the braking state machine. The system parameters like speed,battery life and energy consumption are effectively displayed on a front panel using a display state machine.There exists a GPS state machine which helps in navigating the bike, aiding the tracking and route advice. The manual commands are facilitated through buttons which are controlled by a buttons state machine.The design is thus efficient and sustainable and is within the reach of the common man.
