LLMs as Interfaces for a Cloud Migration Assistant

We demonstrate the application of a Large Language Model (LLM) as an interface capable of querying information and delivering outputs in various formats. Our focus is on a relevant use case: an LLM-based assistant to accelerate the migration of on-premises applications to the cloud. Taking a query from a user and combining information from internal data sources the tool generates a migration strategy, represented as reference diagrams, and links to relevant documentation. The performance of the tool is tested using a labeled dataset and a user study suggests that our solution can assist inexperienced users in finding the right cloud migration strategy. We also discuss how the method could employ additional user interaction to provide results that are more precisely tailored to each use case.
