Global Forest Cover Changes Analysis using NASA Satellite Images from 1990 to 2005

Human activities, changes in the climate, and policy interventions are causing major transformations in the global forest cover. This paper analyzes the trends, drivers, and implications of deforestation and afforestation around the world. Using satellite imagery and remote sensing data, we analyze the impact of the changes in land use on biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and climate regulation. Accelerated rates of deforestation, which mainly result from agricultural expansion, urbanization, and logging, can disrupt ecological balance and hasten global warming. Conversely, afforestation efforts, such as reforestation and sustainable land management, have the potential to restore degraded landscapes and help combat climate risks. Besides, this study examines the efficacy of conservation policies and international agreements in controlling forest loss. In general, understanding these dynamics would help in developing appropriate sustainable forest management strategies while ensuring balanced economic development with environmental conservation. By integrating technological advancements and policy-driven approaches, this research provides insights into preserving forest ecosystems and ensuring ecological sustainability in the face of ongoing environmental challenges.
